Company History

  • 1993Donald M. Kendall (father), Donald M. Kendall (son), Christian R. Eisenbeiss and Henry J. McGovern establish American Restaurants Services Sp. z o.o., now operating as ARC.
  • 1993-1995 – ARC obtains franchise rights to operate Pizza Hut restaurants at towns and cities in Western Poland and KFC restaurants at Szczecin, Poznań and Wrocław.
  • 1998 – ARC expands its operations outside Poland, by taking over 5 KFC and 1 Pizza Hut outlets run by Yum! in the Czech Republic.
  • 2000 – formation of the holding company AmRest by ARC and Yum!; ARC contributes 25 KFC and 15 Pizza Hut restaurants and Yum! – 23 KFC and 26 Pizza Hut restaurants into the joint enterprise.
  • 2001 – takeover of International Fast Food Polska Sp. z o.o. (IFFP), the operator of the Burger King chain in Poland; out of the 23 Burger King restaurants acquired, the Company closes 6 and rebrands the remaining 17 to KFC.

  • 2005 – because of AmRest’s IPO plans, in January Yum! signs with ARC a conditional contract of sale to ARC of all its shares in AmRest; Aprila successful IPO on the stock exchange – during the year following the IPO the share price grows by 100%, never dropping below the issue price; May – takeover of miklik’s food s.r.o., the owner of 8 Big Food restaurants in the Czech Republic, which are rebranded to KFC; July – takeover of Spolpep Sp. z o.o., the owner of 4 flagship Pizza Hut/KFC restaurants at Warsaw.

  • 2006 January – formation of Amrest Ukraina t.o.w.; March – the first Freshpoint restaurant opened at Warsaw; April – the first Rodeo Drive restaurant launched at Wrocław and a partner agreement signed with Talus Limited (Ukraine); May – an agreement regarding the takeover of Kentucky Systems, Kft – the owner of 13 Pizza Hut and 4 KFC restaurants in Hungary.
